There was a pantry closet next to a walk- in pantry, a space much better for the refrigerator, which then made more counter space. The water supply to the refrigerator was borrowed from the vanity upstairs.
Moving the range was a bit of a challenge to vent the new range location. The beam supporting the second floor could not be cut into, so a new beam allowed the vent to go horizontally to reach the exterior.
